![]() Second Hand Purrs is a newly formed cat shelter in the Milwaukee area. We are a non-profit organization which is run solely by devoted volunteers. We have over 24 years of combined volunteering experience with other no-kill organizations in the Milwaukee area. We feel there is an additional need for more no-kill shelters for cats. Our goal is to give current owners and/or concerned citizens another option to help combat the euthanasia statistics currently in Milwaukee. Most of our animals come to us directly from prior owners that for whatever reason cannot care for their cat(s) any longer. The number one reason for animals being surrendered is because owners are moving and cannot - or will not - take their cats along. Other reasons for cats being surrendered are owners death, divorce, or people become bored with - or tired of - their current pet. Some of our animals are also found as strays. Whatever the reason may be, we believe these cats deserve a second chance at a permanent and loving life-time home. We have open houses on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please come visit our residents and we will help make a purrfect match!!! In 2007 we adopted out 286 cats and kittens to new and loving homes! Help us make 2008 a bigger and better year for the animals!
