* * Become a Foster Parent* *
We are currently seeking volunteers to foster cats in their home.  Volunteers would be responsible for completing SHP standard protocols before the cat is submitted to the shelter that may include taking the cat to the vet or shelter for various health appointments including spay/neuter, health checks, booster shots etc.  Costs related to the foster cat(s) such as vet costs, food and various supplies are provided and paid for by SHP.  Personal expenses incurred (such as gas, travel) are your responsibility.  If you currently have other pets at your home we strongly recommend having a special room or area solely for foster animals to reside in that is separated from your animals.

If you are a dedicated individual who has the care and well being of our cats in your best interest, please email Susan at sycatic1@aol.com to fill out a volunteer form and inquire today on how to get started.  Fostering is a challenging but very rewarding experience.  Foster homes provide us with the valuable option of temporary homes to care for our animals.  They bridge the gap and offer the crucial extra time and space needed to be able to prepare a shelter animal to be adopted into a forever home.

Please spread the word!!!

Second Hand Purrs Cat Shelter has just been registered on GoodSearch, as seen in OPRAH Magazine, ABC News, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Fortune.

Second Hand Purrs will now receive a direct donation every time one of our supporters uses GoodSearch to search the Internet. This is an amazing new opportunity to raise money every day at no cost to you.

GoodSearch is the search engine with a unique social mission. It’s powered by Yahoo, so you get the same great search results. Now you can make a difference in the lives of many cats and kittens, simply by changing the way you search the Internet!

Important: People must use GoodSearch in order for Second Hand Purrs to earn money. How much money is raised will depend on how well everyone can spread the word to our supporters. The most effective ways to help spread the word now are:

  • Word of mouth is the most powerful messenger. Please ask everyone you know to download the GoodSearch toolbar and begin donating money today.
  • Send an email to spread the word to all of your friends and family stating the following:
      GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates ad revenue, about a penny per search to Second Hand Purrs. Use it just like any search engine, and it’s powered by Yahoo!, so you get the same great results.
  • Make GoodSearch the homepage on all computers in your home, company or school by clicking: http://www.goodsearch.com/MakeHomepage.aspx
  • Tell the world – Spread the word about GoodSearch on blogs, message boards, myspace and facebook!
